About Cork

Our cork items are big on style and conscience.

The cork used to make our accessories comes from the bark of cork oak trees growing in the cork oak forests of Portugal. The harvesting process does not affect the growth of the trees and can only take place after the tree has grown for 25 years. Stripping the cork oak of its bark also enhances the trees ability to absorb carbon dioxide; the seven million acres of cork forest around the Mediterranean offset 20 million tonnes of CO2 each year.

Not only is cork an eco-friendly, vegan-friendly and sustainable alternative to most other fabrics, it is also waterproof, durable, lightweight and soft to the touch.

Our cork goods are kind to the planet making them a unique addition to your wardrobe.

What material can cork most be compared to?
The material that cork fabric can most be compared to is animal leather showing the same properties such as suppleness, feel and durability. However, unlike leather, cork fabric is a cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, organic and sustainable material.

How do you clean your cork products?
Our cork products are all washable by hand. Follow our simple and quick guide to keep your cork products clean:
Step 1: Use a mild soap
Step 2: Fill a container with warm water and make a soap water solution
Step 3: Take a soft cloth, dip it in the solution and wipe it smoothly on your cork product until the dirt is removed. Use gentle motions - slowly does it!
Step 4: Gently wipe your product with a dry cloth

Imperfect Sustainability

Although our products are primarily made using a sustainable material (natural cork), our products are not 100% sustainable as the linings are made from 35% cotton and 65% polyester. A few items even use a little PU Leather. However, this imperfect sustainability is what makes our items affordable for the majority. We believe that encouraging people to take small steps towards a sustainable wardrobe is a realistic and reasonable approach to take.

We are working with our manufacturers to make our products 100% sustainable while still keeping our prices economical so watch this space!
